Automotive 1 – Transportation Engineering & Maintenance

This course is designed to introduce students to Transportation Engineering along with basic operation and maintenance of the modern automobile. It will be beneficial for ALL current and future car owners, both male and female, and will provide students with the skills necessary for owning and maintaining a car. Students will learn how and when to perform general maintenance on a vehicle and perform emergency roadside repairs. The students will also be introduced to the 4-Stroke Gasoline Small Engine and teardown and rebuild one. Students will learn vehicle dynamics through a small R/C Project/Competition and CO2 Car creation using Transportation Engineering Principles along with Math and Science Standards to maximize the speed vs. weight relationship in team competitions within the school and District.
